ASU pushing for better football attendance this year

Arizona State University    officials are hoping for a sellout of Sun Devil Stadium tonight as the team takes on the No. 21 University of Missouri Tigers.
The school announced early this afternoon that there were roughly 1,600 tickets left for the high-profile game to be broadcast nationally on ESPN    . Kickoff in Tempe is set for 7:30 p.m.
If ASU sells out tonight it will go a long way toward improving on 2010's average attendance. New research from On Numbers shows that ASU ranked 47th in the nation for attendance among college football teams last year. The team averaged 47,943 fans over six home games.
That mark ranked ASU sixth in what was then the Pac-10. The conference added the University of Colorado and the University of Utah this year to become the Pac-12.
ASU drew 45,671 fans to Sun Devil Stadium a week ago when the Sun Devils beat the University of California-Davis 48-24.
Nationwide in 2010 the University of Michigan had the top attendance in college football, averaging 111,825 fans per game.
