With X-Men: First Class hitting the DVD and Blu-ray streets today, mega producer Lauren Shuler Donner traveled the online marketing landscape this week in promotion of the release. And of course, everyone hit her up on the upcoming X-Men projects as SuperHeroHype reports below. With The Avengers, Man of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises in production and taking up so much of the news lately, Donner reminded the fans this week that The Wolverine is ready to go as soon as Hugh Jackman has an opening, a Deadpool movie is still coming and they want another X-Men: First Class installment under the guidance of director Matthew Vaughn.
For The Wolverine:
"It's much more of a standalone [movie]..[We want] to distinguish it from the other one... I'm not sure when we'll start. Maybe summer 2012 we'll start shooting. It's based on Hugh [Jackman]'s schedule, frankly. When he's available, we'll film. ...He's doing 'Les Miserables', and then he has to come and train for us. So it's all dependent on him."
In regards to the Deadpool movie, Donner confirms to IAmRogue and TotalFilm that they want Ryan Reynolds back for the character, they still have Tim Miller as the director to lead it and that they wish to go a different direction than the one was witnessed in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
"We're working on getting it ready," she continued, "and presenting some things to the studio, cause we're gonna give it a little bit of a different look. It's a different kind of movie. If you know 'Deadpool' ...it's true to 'Deadpool'. So you know, it'll be violent, and outrageous, and funny, and all that."
"With Ryan absolutely. Can you see anybody else in it?
"[H]e was treated totally wrong in the Wolverine film and yes we will redeem him,” Donner said, "...We have a few more things to do and then it's up to the studio to decide whether we're going to go forward or not.”
And as said above, she confirmed to HitFix that she wants Matthew Vaughn back as the director to tackle on any sequel to this summer's origin tale.
