New planet discovered Kepler-16b orbits two suns

New planet discovered Kepler-16b orbits two suns. US Space scientists have discovered a planet that is orbiting two suns. This is unusual but is true and one of NASA satellites launched two years ago found out about this unusual star.

The newly discovered planet is the latest findings of a NASA rocket Kepler and the new planet is named after the rocket that was launched in the year 2009. The new planet has been named as Kepler-16b.

The Satellite was launched with this very purpose of finding new life in the space and beyond. The NASA page detailing about what the satellite aimed to achieve says, “The challenge now is to find terrestrial planets (i.e., those one half to twice the size of the Earth), especially those in the habitable zone of their stars where liquid water and possibly life might exist…The Kepler Mission, NASA Discovery mission #10, is specifically designed to survey a portion of our region of the Milky Way galaxy to discover dozens of Earth-size planets in or near the habitable zone and determine how many of the billions of stars in our galaxy have such planets.

The new planet that is more than 200 light years ago from our universe is said to be made up of rock and gas and if the new reports are to be believed it is as big as Saturn. Kepler is orbiting two stars simultaneously.
