Floyd Mayweather’s Defensive Strategy

With many fighters boasting that they will dominate Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his 41 – 0 record, some have made it close but others end up miserably. Current WBC World title holder Victor Ortiz may be the first fighter to make a huge upset this coming Saturday on their upcoming fight dubbed as “Star Power.” But the fact is, Ortiz could be rewriting history or could I either turn out the opposite. Ortiz may be going up with a fighter who has more experience than him. The young fighter has wits and talents and could likely turn the tables upside down in favor for him.

One thing that Ortiz has to remember is that Mayweather is one hell of a defensive fighter no matter what. Annoying he may be outside the ring; Mayweather has got it all under his sleeves as he is the most intelligent boxers in terms of defense and strategy. Mayweather’s strategy is to play it defensively dring the first five rounds allowing his opponents to do their game plan as he lay watches and observes teir moves.

If Ortiz wants to stand a chance of taking down Mayweather he has to bring his smarts and his greatest weapon his age, to triumph over the pressure from the start as his fighter is good at blocking out punches right from the start. Once Mayweather gets past the sixth round, all hell will set loose, as the prodigy fighter will be out of his comfort zone to confront his opponent. Ortiz will have to begin punching the undefeated champion and take down his punches from the start. In the end it all goes down to one epic showdown. Mayweathervs Ortiz is set to duke this coming Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
