Facts and Figures On Mayweather vs Ortiz Star Power

The much anticipated Starpower fight just around the corner, Mayweather and Ortiz are all set to battle it out on a high note. Although the odds predict of a 6 -1 favor for Mayweather, still it’s anybody’s game. While boxing analyst considers Mayweather to beat the hell of Ortiz in the early rounds, then again it’s a win-win situation for Ortiz. Defeating Mayweather could possibly end their match with Pacquiao and instantly makes Ortiz a star. Here are some interesting facts and predictions on the Mayweather vs Ortiz fight.

Ortiz was compared to Amir Khan as one of his greatest test to mark a bout on the welterweight. A rematch with Maidana or Berto would be great addition to Ortiz’s career but a fight that would knock out Brandon Rios would be a showstopper. In the end, win or lose Ortiz still has many options to consider than retiring.

Floyd barely got hurt in his 41 fights in the past and he’s almost never been drop to the canvas. Mosley might have caught him with a clean right hand in the second round of their fight in May 2010, still the champion recovered and turned out to be in the opposite direction. Ortiz has been known to possess plenty of punching power having floored most of his opponents. Ortiz can unleash a fury of punches and Mayweather’s legs are not that too stable to handle those punches.
Mayweather may sprung out like an Easter bunny hopping around in the ring, but expect an older version of him in the ring. For almost four years he hasn’t had a chance to practice. A crafty defender, Mayweather still has lightning fast punches that can counter punch on whatever Ortiz throws at him.

Ortiz may be a well-rounded fighter but he still needs to train as one of his Achilles heel is his defense that is vulnerable when he tries to attack and get countered by Mayweather. He needs to be quick enough to dodge bullets and strike hard fast, as Mayweather is a master counter puncher.

Ortiz has already fought Lamont Peterson and it seems that half of the fight goes credit to Ortiz which ended up in a draw. Fighting Berto, Ortiz seemed to brew an explosive concoction to stay to the very end and fought Berto to the last breath. Finally one of Ortiz’s secret weapon would be Mayweather’s 4 year long hiatus that could signify a great advantage. Ortiz is young and is at his golden age and moves around in the ring compared to the aging Mayweather.

The self-proclaimed pound per pound fighter has heavily relied on his physical condition. The fight between Mayweather and Ortiz is going to be a battle of age. And if so ever Ortiz wins the fight it will be the biggest upset in the boxing world and also to a scheduled fight with Manny Pacquiao.
