Mayweathervs Ortiz Fight Analysis and Predictions

After along week hiatus, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is once again stepping inside the ring to once again redeem himself and to prove to the boxing community who is the best boxer of them all. Floyd Mayweather is considered to be the best pound-per-pound boxers of his generation. This time he returns with a vengeance after a 16 month long hiatus to fight the WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz at the MGM .

Let’s start with Mayweather, with a stunning record of 41-0; this prime fighter is poised to take down any of his opponents with ease. Floyd is a very fast fighter most especially in the welterweight class. A defensive fighter both inside and outside the ring, he has shock the world of boxing by combining a superior defense and speed that could topple down any opponent that gets in his way. Floyd can lead through the rounds by playing up defensively while understanding his opponent’s moves as he fights along. Mayweather’s strength is brought about in his hands being so powerful that many of his opponents mistakenly underestimate his defensive strategy.

If Ortiz has to pull this fight in favor for him he has to do some fantastic killer moves in order for him to counter Mayweather has to throw at him. There are however some openings that Ortiz has to take notice when Floyd is hurt a few times. Most of the time when Mayweather is hurt he’ll be wide open leaving his chin open when punching, if Ortiz would likely exploit this type of scenario then Mayweather is in for a trouble.

While Ortiz generally is the new champion in town one can attest that his power lies in both hands. He will use all that power to take Mayweather in a heavy beating just like what he did to Berto. Strong enough and being a southpaw he can take advantage of giving Mayweather a hell of a problem considering the fact that the pound-per-pound king is likely having a hard time when it comes to boxers who are southpaws. Arguably one great advantage of Ortiz would be his age, the gap between him and Mayweather is surely a tough call with him being younger, faster and more powerful than the ageing Mayweather. Ortiz’s style in doing punching makes him vulnerable and would likely be exploited by his opponent.

During the first few rounds Mayweather will dominate the fight by weaving some power pack punches and landing some solid blows on Ortiz. In order to counter, Ortiz takes chances and opens himself with an array of punches blowing Mayweather to a defensive stance. If Ortiz can’t find success in the first two rounds then he isn’t likely to be going anywhere. Ortiz needs to focus on during the early stages of the fight as Floyd loves to rush in on things and give him a heavy beating during the later rounds. Mayweather has this habit of destroying his opponents during the later rounds and be set into defensive mode all the time understanding his opponents and later unleash a fury of punches during the later rounds. If Ortiz comes close in countering Floyd’s defensive stance during the early stages of the fight then he can attack Mayweather in for a good beating.
